What we collect, why we collect it, and your California privacy rights.
Who this covers
The Love Of California is based in California and this policy is written to meet the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), and California's "Shine the Light" law (Civil Code § 1798.83).
It applies to everyone who uses this site, whether or not you create an account.
Categories of personal information we collect
Identifiers: name, email address, and — if you list a business — business name, phone, and address. Collected directly from you when you sign up, claim a listing, request a booking, or contact us.
Commercial and internet activity information: pages viewed, listings opened, searches, saved places, itineraries, device type, and referring source. Collected automatically as you browse.
Approximate geolocation: only if you allow it in your browser, used to sort places by distance. We do not store precise coordinates from your device.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA, and we do not collect biometric, financial account, or precise geolocation data.
Why we collect it and how long we keep it
To show local date and weather, remember your city, personalize recommendations and the concierge, run bookings and saved trips, secure the platform, and give business owners aggregate analytics about their own listing.
Account information is kept while your account is open and for up to 12 months after you close it. Activity data is kept in aggregate form and individual event records are retained no longer than 24 months.
We do not sell or share your personal information
The Love Of California does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined by the CPRA. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months, including for anyone under 16. Because of this, we do not offer a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" opt-out — there is nothing to opt out of.
Your California privacy rights
Right to know: request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and any third parties we disclosed it to.
Right to delete: request deletion of the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions.
Right to correct: ask us to fix inaccurate personal information.
Right to limit use of sensitive personal information: we do not collect it, so there is nothing to limit.
Right to non-discrimination: we will never deny service, charge a different price, or lower quality because you exercised a privacy right.
To exercise any right, use the contact page on this site or email the address listed there. We will verify your request against your account email and respond within 45 days, extendable once by another 45 days. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honor browser-level opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control. Since we do not sell or share personal information, receiving that signal does not change how we handle your data.
Third parties and service providers
We use service providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, weather data, event listings, and analytics processing. They are contractually limited to processing data on our behalf and may not sell it.
Businesses you contact through the platform handle your information under their own policies, not ours.
Children
The platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. Under California law, minors under 18 who are registered users may request removal of content they posted by contacting us.
Changes and contact
We will post the effective date at the top of this page whenever this policy changes. For privacy requests or questions, use the contact page on this site.
